REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY
REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY
EXPLANATION
All players must have completed the NZR registration process by submitting their clubs/schools online Sporty registration form. All players must be registered with their club/school before playing in any competition game. The simplest process for a player to register is for their Sporty administrator to invite them to re-register from a previous season with all their details prepopulated. If players are new to the club or school a blank form can be sent for them to complete.
EXPLANATION
All coaches of U14 level rugby and above, including assistant coaches, position specific coaches and technical assistants must be registered in the current season and be compliant with the current NZR Rugby Smart course. Rugby Smart compliance can either be completed online or in person at your local club. Coaches should also be allocated to teams within Team Builder (see competition compliance - teambuilder)
For more information head to the Coaching Homepage
EXPLANATION
A player coming from or returning from overseas, whether new to the club or returning to the club, must produce an International Clearance signed by the National Union from which they have come. World Rugby Clearances must be approved by NZR. It is the club/school's responsibility to ensure the player has completed the process and is therefor compliant under player registration eligibility.
EXPLANATION
For approval to be given, all applications for re-grades must be received by the ORFU by 1pm on the Wednesday prior to a game or special circumstance i.e. late injury replacement.
Regional Variations
Metro: The regular interchange of players between teams in all mens grades may be made without recourse until tbc. After this date if a player makes THREE appearance (named on a team sheet in the MyRugby App) for a team in a higher grade and then is to player for a team in a lower grade, a re-grade application must be submitted and approced before that player is eligible to play in the lower grade.

EXPLANATION
EXPLANATION
Given the inherent safety risks of teenagers playing against adults, the National Rugby Policy Age to Play Senior Rugby (Policy) applies. This Policy takes into account the World Rugby Age Grade Rugby Guidelines (Guidelines) and, pursuant to those Guidelines, given this Policy applies to community/participation adult rugby (as opposed to elite adult rugby), has been drafted having regard to safety, player welfare and local conditions to fit within the New Zealand rugby environment.
Under this policy all parties have a repsonsibility to ensure the player is eligible to play and or has completed the appropriate steps to have approval to do so. For more information head to NZR website or contact Rugby Operations staff
