After a beautiful display of rugby last weekend our Otago Spirit gals are headed to Palmy North to take on Manawatu in the Championship Final. Sunday is a double Header so you better clear the whole afternoon. The lads kick off first at 2.05pm followed by the women at 4.35pm. Check out full team lists below.

Next Saturday will be our final NPC Home game of the season and the boys will be taking on Tasman. It's Saturday afternoon footy with a 4.35pm kick off and your last opportunity to finish your collection of player trading cards so be sure to come get behind the boys!

Gorinski’s last charge

Your Otago Spirit team to take on the Manawatu Cyclones this Sunday 22nd September, 4:35pm in the Championship Final of the Farah Palmer Cup presented by Bunnings Warehouse.

The team welcomes back experienced player Greer Muir back from injury onto the bench. Atawhai Hotene could also make her first appearance for the year off the bench.

Two special milestones in the team this weekend, including Eilis Doyle playing her 50th game and Julia Gorinski will be playing her 65th game and last ever match for the Otago Spirit. Congratulations to a couple of legends!

The annual Dewar cup game between the Otago Rugby Referees and Southland Rugby Referees is locked in for the 26th of October.

This year we return to Marist Rugby club in Invercargill to do battle for the third year in a row but this time with a twist.

This year we will be having a 20 minute period where anyone in our associations can play regardless of gender, age or ability. This is a non-collision form of the game that is purely for fun. There will then be 60 minutes of full contact with our brothers in maroon playing for the Dewar cup.

In 2015 Otago Polytechnic (OP) with the Otago Rugby Football Union (ORFU) established the
ORFU scholarship to assist students with both sporting and academic aspirations.
Two Scholarships will be offered at the discretion of the ORFU for FULL payment of fees for one year of a chosen programme at OP.

The following conditions apply:

2 FULL fees scholarships for one year of full-time study will be awarded at the discretion of the Otago Rugby Football Union for study starting in the year 2025.
This scholarship applies to Domestic students only.
Candidates for the scholarship must be nominated by the Otago Rugby Football Union.
Candidates must meet minimum entry requirements for their programme of choice.
The scholarship may be held concurrently with other awards/grants, subject to approval of Otago Polytechnic
Otago Polytechnic and the Otago Rugby Football Union has the power to terminate the scholarship if the recipient ceases to follow regulations of the programme of study and/or bring the reputation of the Otago Polytechnic or the Otago Rugby Football Union into disrepute.

Please note that receiving an ORFU endorsed Otago Polytech Scholarship does not guarantee a place in the Women’s or Men’s Academies for 2025.
