A Special Occasion

The Lawrence Rugby Football Club recently hosted a special occasion with the presentation of an Otago Country Life Membership to Willis Paterson. This well-deserved honour recognises his exceptional service, dedication, and commitment to rugby and the community as a player, coach and administrator. Willis' hard work and passion have greatly impacted the club and the wider rugby community, making this award a fitting tribute.

Skills With Will & Aria

This week Will Henry and Aria Monaghan went and visited two of our Secondary School girls rugby teams - Otago Girls and Taieri College. With a focus on catch pass, decision making drills, the girls showed off great ball skills highlighted by the wet conditions!

Reach out to Aria at aria.monaghan@orfu.co.nz to arrange a session at your High School!

Spirit School Visit

Elmgrove School in Mosgiel run a sports hub every Wednesday morning for all the keen athletes in their school to participate and learn from talented sportspeople within the sporting community. This week, Otago Spirit FPC players Rawinia Ngamoki-Moana, Eilis Doyle and Gemma Millar were special guests and ran a fun rugby related skills and drills session. It was a great way to start the morning with a fun session of catch pass, followed by a game of rippa and concluding with a Q&A. There were some very keen and talented children in the mix! Thank you for having us!!

Year 8 Festival Gets Girls Only Fixture

We have an opportunity for our year 7/8 girls to continue growing their rugby. The year 8 festival is coming up on the 27th of July in Balclutha. Previously this event has been a boys festival where the odd girl would be mixed into the boys team, however this year we have introduced a girls only grade which is open to all year 7/8 girls. This will be an awesome day out for our girls to experience with the Otago Spirit FPC and Otago NPC teams also taking part in the day. Game Development - Female Participation legend Aria, will continue her work in this space and will run two more Monday night training's on 1st July (week before holidays) and 22nd July (week after school holidays) in preparation for the Year 8 festival. Teams will be organised prior to the weekend so reach out to aria.monaghan@orfu.co.nz for more details.
