Good afternoon Otago supporters! It's been a while but as rugby resumes we are excited to be back sharing rugby news from around the province.

The Otago Spirit will lace up their boots one more time in 2021 as they take on Canterbury tomorrow at Forsyth Barr Stadium. It's been a challenging year for our girls but they are absolute battlers and you can count on seeing them put up a hearty fight in their final battle of the season. Unfortunately there are no crowds under Level 2 but you can catch the girls on Sky Sport 2, kick off 12.05pm

Otago Boys High School will be taking on the boys from Nelson College this Saturday 25th September at 2:35pm at Forsyth Barr Stadium. Unfortunately due to Level 2 restrictions, this match will be played under a closed venue, with no crowds permitted to attend. However the game will be broadcast live on Sky Sport 2 (not 3). Go well boys!

Also this weekend, our Otago Representative teams will be taking to the paddock in force! Attendance at these games will be in accordance with government requirements for level 2, yes we are back but, we will need to proceed our return to rugby with extra caution, especially around the limit on numbers we can have at games. Your co-operation in following the Government, M.O.H & NZ Rugby guidelines will mean a safe return for all.

ALERT LEVEL 2 GUIDELINES:

Rugby is possible in Alert Level 2 subject to suitable player, volunteer, and environment preparations (such as changing rooms and clubrooms). Mass gathering limits are to be strictly observed which means NO PERSON involved in a rugby event (training, game, tournament, or festival) may be exposed to MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE at the rugby event IN A SINGLE DAY. This additional restriction is to acknowledge the increased risk with the Delta variant of COVID-19.
